Hazmburk Castle

The ruins of Hazmburk Castle are one of the typical and unmistakable landmarks of the Czech landscape. The view of the Central Bohemian Uplands from this lonely hill is quite unforgettable.

Are you planning a trip to Hazmburk Castle? On the way, you can revisit the sales stand opened by the JOHANN W winery in Třebívlice!

Refresh yourself after a hike and enjoy the atmosphere of the vineyards during the summer from Tue to Sun, 10 am to 8 pm, then in April, May, June and September on Sat and Sun from 10 am to 7 pm. The stand offers wines made from the grapes of the Chateau Winery Třebívlice—JOHANN W, some of the vineyards growing directly below Hazmburk. There are also soft drinks, pressed fruit juices from the Louny Apple Press and other snacks. This pleasant place to sit and relax is on the way from the carpark towards Libochovice (castle on your left) after approx. 150 m.

If we consider Milešovka the queen of the Central Bohemian Uplands, then only Hazmburk can be the king. The towers of this ruin are one of the most unmistakable landmarks of the Lower Ohře landscape and are visible from many kilometres away. It rises on the top of a steep basalt massif and is a reminder of the faded glory of a once impregnable Gothic castle. Archaeological findings show that the 418 m high knoll was inhabited as early as 5000 BCE by people of the stroke-ornamented ware culture.
